Not much to say about this nonsense. The same basic story about clueless students who apparently don't notice a half dressed kid. Who paid for the lunch? It's usually not free in schools as far as I know. What happened to "No Shoes No Shirt No Service"? Seems a bit unsanitary in a lunch room. Even has coronavirus above waiting to rain down on them (Oh please let Little Oop catch covid and die, then we can move on to some other wacked out nonsense). Little Dinny? 🤢👎 Is this the best you can do, Joey? I think I know the answer. Maybe when you get maybe 30 or 40 more years on you, you might be able to write something that doesn't look like a grade schooler wrote it for a class assignment. You probably haven't heard what Mark Twain (who???) said so here ya go: “When I was a boy of 14, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be 21, I was astonished at how much the old man had learned in seven years...

Well, this sad old man says that this is a typical crock of Joey's wannabe authorship. If only she had a clue.....😒 So now both Oaf and Doc have become clueless idiots while Ooola remains the "brains" of the outfit. Such a crying shame how this strip has deteriorated into just juvenile drivel. Joey, if you can't figure out how to write some decent kind of story, stick to oozing out half-wit(ty) silliness on Twitter. That's your best shot as you have zero clue on how to write a continuing adventure story. You're "kinda" good at writing snark replies on Twitter. If only your Oop tales were as good. Maybe if you spent more time writing Oop and less time spewing nonsense on Twitter your writing would improve. You had to be one of those children that were told you were something special growing up. It's rough becoming a grownup apparently. Your best shot is sticking to one panel silliness, you're quite good at that (and that's being gener...

So it's come to this. Oaf has sunken to such a pre-school mental level that he is doing pinky swears?!!! What happened to the caveman who used to "knock great big monsters down to their knees"? This wimpy dimwit would rather cuddle with the monsters, much as he did as Little Stupe Oop, when he laid down to sleep with a baby dinosaur. I get it that John Glynn envisions this as a new version and he hopes to get kids who can read to start becoming fans of this Teletubbies level of strip and have it become as big as the original Hamlin/Graue version became with us viejos y viejas. Umm, no. Give it up John, just print the entire Hamlin/Graue/Bender strips and call it a day. Give Joey her walking papers and thank her for at least trying, and wish her luck back at the Nib. Lemon does OK with Rabbits so give him a longer contract as long as he only sticks to Rabbits. 😊

It's not immediately obvious why Copious is asking the 3 dimwits for help in finding out why the ear cleaner quit working, like they would have *any* clue about that. He does appear to be a bit uneasy when Oaf mentions they would be acquitted on all charges. Since Copious is dealing directly with the Nudelians and is to talk to them to figure out what went wrong, it's hard to figure what part the thick headed trio is going to play in getting it to work again. Perhaps they should contact Little Oop and have Penelope figure out what the problem is? 😒

So, Little Oop is just walking around the house with the little girl genius Mary Sue and nobody cares. Sure, why'd anyone in the house even notice that a strange half-naked wooly shorts wearing kid is living in their house and walking around since many days? And I guess today's joke is about a laptop.. No wait, it must be about teleportation. No wait, I guess it's about a laptop after all... Oh, whatever. Does anyone care? It's just laptop lameness. And she's a super genius child wonder scientist who invented a portable little time machine box using only mechanical scrap and probably stealing parts from electronic devices of her home or school. Why's she mad that a little laptop is old and barely runs anymore? Can't a super-duper Mary Sue like her, one who invents a portable little time machine and a teleporter in her mom's basement, can't she just repair a silly ol' laptop and turn it into a supercomputer? Why, for a genius of her ca...

Well, this new Ooola is a bit of a dimbulb. She'd rather work for Epste, er, Copious instead of a large multinational? That vibrating seat on the jet must have sealed the deal. Bahhh!! Apparently Oaf and Doc are in it for the money and could care less about economic systems. Not sure where in time that Ooola learned so much about modern social culture, Moo was definitely a kingdom. 🤢

As mentioned in my last post, V.T. Hamlin did a separate feature in the Sunday "Alley Oop". At one time it was a written description of a specific dinosaur and included a large drawing. I don't know how long he did this but at some point the focus of the feature changed and it was retitled "Fragments, Odds and Ends of Prehistoric Lore". From the at:blog https://marswillsendnomore.wordpress.com/2012/08/09/v-t-hamlins-fragments-odds-and-ends-of-prehistoric-lore/ Examples of the feature can be found at the blog.

I found this blog, which highlights Hamlin's Sunday work where he provided a write-up and drawing of dinosaurs. Back in the 1930's, Sunday comic strips were an entire page. The artist often produced a separate strip, called a "topper", which was about the size that most Sunday strips are produced today. For example, if you read "Barney Google", you would see "Bunky" or "Mickey Mouse", "Silly Symphonies" or "The Medieval Castle" on "Prince Valiant". Hamlin did something a little bit different as his were usually a really large panel cut out from the rest of the page. For a time this feature was called "Dinny's Family Album". If you go to the blog at https://marswillsendnomore.wordpress.com/2012/06/11/v-t-hamlins-dinosaurs-dinnys-family-album/ , you can see examples of this feature.

More of the same silliness that we have come to expect. So now Oaf has a burning desire to ride in a kangaroo's pouch? Who comes up with this nonsense anyway? And why? Joey needs to quickly read a couple of adventure strips to get an idea how idiotic these story directions have been since she took over. You would think Lemon would perhaps make a suggestion or two about what the strip needs to get back on track as he has read at least some of the earlier strips and should have a good idea of what worked for 70+ years. Really sad. 😢🤦♂️🤦♀️

Just more silly nonsense with Little Oop. Wanting to defend against a cat, then wondering what modern T. Rex's are like. Meanwhile Penelope has adopted the Funky/Crankshaft Smirk. That's pretty much the whole excitement for today's filler strip. Little Oop sounded like it could have possibilities, but under this authorship it's flailing around with more dumb gags. 👎

Another day with a listless "gag". Such a shame wasting the possibilities of time travel, exploring all kinds of historical settings, and just ending up with a lame story. Apparently Joey hasn't read many history books, mainly stuck to reading Mad Magazine and Cracked. This parody version of Alley Oop is so disrespectful to the 70+ years of interesting stories we all loved. May be better to just end it before Oop ends up being remembered for this idiotic nonsense by people younger than 30 here in 2020. 🤔👎
Ten days to ten minutes on today's Alley Oop - 12 May 2020

The ignominious idiocy continues in today's installment of Alley Oaf. Alley gets Wonmug back to Copious creep and the creep tells him that it took him ten hours to get Wonmug. So, Alley Oaf just ZINNNGs back in time and returns in ten minutes. And then, Copious creep congratulates Alley for finding Wonmug in ten minutes. I dunno what this nincompoopy nonsense was supposed to mean, but me thinks that this was probably supposed to be today's gag, so, ha ha? And of course, this would put forward at least ten questions for which we wouldn't even get one tenth of an answer or an iota of explanation either from the esteemed writer-artist duo. The main question would be that if Alley Oaf was smart enough to zinng back in time and return in ten minutes instead of ten hours, then what is stopping him to go back in time before Wonmug and Ooola were ..um.. er.. before they were "put in danger" by Copious by probably abducting them and taking away their time cubes and...

Wonmug says in today's strip that he was an insufferable hippie in his younger days. Oh pleeease. A hippie who turned into a great scientist who invents a time machine? Suuure. Maybe the writer is reading too much of this book called How the Hippies Saved Physics: Science, Counterculture, and the Quantum Revival by David Kaiser , but I dunno if Hamlin's Wonmug was ever a hippie. And whatever happened to that "Wonmug and Ooola are in danger and Oop has to save them" plot? Remember Copious had sent Alley Oaf on this mission to save them? Wonmug sure appears to be in grave danger. Meh. I guess the hippie wagon hit a big plot hole and they forgot everything about it. Ruh-Roh! Now, I dunno about you Americans, but we got a particular kind of impression about hippies. Here's a hippie Bollywood song for you from the 1971 movie called Haré Krishnā Haré Rām . Imagine Conmug high on weed and grooving to these tunes. And as per the current canon of All...

Little Oop gets schooled in a library in today's Sunday installment. The schooling itself isn't ridiculous but what's purely preposterous and nonetheless nonsensical is that how on earth is Little Oop accepted in the school. Little Penelope the girl genius tells Little Oop in the very first panel today that if he's going to keep coming to school with her, he's got to get caught up, that is, caught up with the subjects taught in her school. Yeaaah, like, suuure. The school where nobody notices a half-naked furry shorts wearing strange looking kid hangs around is going to question him and make him write examinations on the subjects taught there. And when did Little Oop enroll in that school in the first place? What class does he belong to? And if he was, how was he enrolled in that school? Do schools in the US just enroll some half-naked kid wearing furry shorts just like that? And doesn't he need his parents or guardians to sign him up for enrolling the...

He's been to over a thousand concerts already? Wow, that was quick. Did you ever try to find someone at a concert without knowing exactly where they were at in the pre-cellphone days? Good luck with that. Wasn't Wonmug's life supposed to be in danger? Sure looks like it. And if the other dude is Wonmug, how can there be two of them in the same timeline? And, lastly, does this fit in with the graduate student Wonmug being around in the Duran Duran era? I know - none of it makes sense.
Setting another low bar, on today's Alley Oop - 07 May 2020

I guess today's strip was all about a goofy Granola bar gag. Can we say this is setting a new low bar for this already beneath the ground surface nonsense? So, Alley Oaf's mission is to find Dr. Wonmug who is at one of the many Beetles concerts. And Ooola is somewhere at.. at some other point of time. Is there any meaning to these meaningless tasks? It is essentially evident that these so called tasks and the so called time travel adventures that Alley Oaf is forced to do by the Copious creep are nothing but lame excuses to make some lame gags based on some references to things such as The Beetles and other things. What was such an entertaining adventure comic is now reduced to crapola granola gags. And not to mention that Alley Oop himself has been reduced to Alley Oaf . Yeah, that's a new label now for this reeky ridiculousyness™. Not only Alley Oaf was referred to as "the dimwitted one" on more than one occasion (as I'm short of time, at this moment...

I posted this link a long time ago back when it was okay to post on the "Alley Oop" board. On this site, several issues of the AO comic book have been scanned and posted. It starts with the December 1947 issue which reprints the newspaper comic strip but adding color. It's possible that in order to make it flow that some strips have been omitted but you can read several months of the strip, taking you past where Mark's links have so far gone. https://humoropedia.com/alley-oop-comics/

Looks like there may be some sort of intrigue here with Copious setting up some kind of a challenge, beyond finding a pencil in ancient Egypt. This could be handled pretty well in the hands of an adventure writer. At this point, I'd say it's a 50-50 chance of it going well vs just leading to another dead end.

Basically more nonsense that we have come to see as the usual. Copious ringing the bell, I guess to experiment with Oop? Who knows? We have to come up with a solution for the links. As for the daily links, we need to find a way to have them go to a dedicated place, like the Fan Fic spot, as an example. If Night-Gaunt posts properly, they all go to a Fan Fic section where they are easily found and followed. Something similar is needed for the links. Otherwise if they get posted as comments to the daily main post, they stay with that post and you would need to find each daily post to find and read them if you had missed a few.
