An irrefutably infuriating installment, on today's Alley Oop - 18 April 2020

It was all jokes and pun fun on ancient aliens and other things in my last post on the previous installment, but it's not funny anymore. So, I'll be cutting down on the gags except for a few sarcastic and parodying memes in-between. Today's installment is irrefutably infuriating and every true Hamlin's Alley Oop fan would agree with this.

Today's installment opens with confirmation that the ancient aliens did not build the pyramids. Sorry, Giorgio. However, from what we saw in this story, we now know that the ancient aliens gave us the pencils.

Now let me come to the next three panels in today's installment. Wonmug implies that those aliens were so dumb that they'd find it difficult to build small two-dimensional things, let alone building a three-dimensional structure like a pyramid. And then, he goes on to say that the only thing those aliens were mostly doing was to just get in the way and ask a lot of dumb questions. (and here's where the infuriating part comes), and to that, Alley Oop replies by saying that why were Oola and Wonmug looking at him after that statement.

This is a clear implication that the only purpose Alley Oop now serves in his own comic is to get in the way of Wonmug and Oola and ask dumb questions. This solidifies my earlier analysis that Alley Oop has now been reduced to a supporting clown character, and he's nothing more than a bungling bumbling buffoon.

This is a distastefully disgraceful development that Alley Oop, the brave smart bold strong and adventurous hero has now been turned into this dumb doofus dimwitted dolt who is just a supporting comic relief. This is not only an infuriating insult to all long time Alley Oop fans, but also an inglorious ignominious insult to the late great Hamlin and his works. Not only the very genre of this comic has been drastically changed, but the main character has been so drastically retconned into an idiot. And what purpose does this serve, a few lame gags for a week?

Not that Alley Oop wasn't depicted as a dumb dimwitted dolt in the earlier installments of this recklessly retconned rag, but today's installment is irrefutably insulting and infuriating. Today's installment just adds to the great collection of insults of Alley Oop that were already mounting up since this new nonsense began.

And it no longer appears to be a mere attempt to turn Alley Oop into a zany bizarre parody of something, but it appears more like as if this is being done to purposely to make Alley Oop look like an idiot. And Dr. Wonmug, when he's not conveniently being all smart and intelligent and reasonable like he is today, he too acts like a fumbling fool on other days.

Alley Oop comic has a great significance as listed in the MU Libraries website, University of Missouri. In 1995, Alley Oop was included by the U.S. Postal Service in a group of twenty great strips to feature on a set of commemorative stamps memorializing classic American comic strips. This shows the great legendary status of this comic strip. And the same comic being reduced to a mockery of itself today is nothing but deeply disgraceful.

Alley Oop was a great hero that little kids could look up to and want to be as brave and heroic and as adventurous. It is true that little kids these days may no longer be interested in reading comic strips as much as the earlier generations, but this disease of retconning established creations for the worse has apparently become a trend nowadays in the western worlds, with all sorts of agenda and propaganda behind it, such as deliberately making the male characters to be idiotic imbeciles. Seeing what's been going on since some time, I'm afraid there's no hope left for Alley Oop.

The new Alley Oop looks nothing more than an impotent impostor of his original self. Now I know all good things come to an end. But the question is that did the end have to be years of disgrace and misery for Alley Oop?
