I've generally avoided commenting on "Little Stoop" because it in no way connects to the long cannon of the strip. Reading today's strip, though, I can't help but wonder who the intended audience for the Sunday strip is. Talking dinosaurs who wear clothes might appeal to very little kids but it's doubtful that many kids, little or otherwise, read comics, especially one that isn't particularly funny. That leaves adults and it amazes me that an adult would find today's strip funny or entertaining. And yet, 27 people gave today's comic the coveted "heart" award.  So, finally Little Oaf comes out and admits he hasn't a clue on how to even begin to solve the problems. The strip pretty much is coming out and saying he's like a "fish out of water" (which we obviously knew). It's strange that the teacher at least hadn't noticed he's different.  Another wasted Sunday strip (as usual, of course). Looks like Penelope is having a couple of school buddies over to her basement lab to play games. Little Oaf however is better equipped with the physical sword play stuff than trying to answer a question about world history he would only have a clue about if he had attended modern day schools for a period of time.   OK then, Little Oaf can now wear 21st Century clothes. And Penelope comes up with a cool device that allows people to be virtually clothed.  And in a surprise ending(meaning that this is probably the best of all of the Little Oaf's so far), a bug has caused her device to fail spectacularly which makes all of the current era's kids suddenly becoming virtual cave kids. Not bad. Perhaps Joey is getting the hang of what Little Oaf should be, considering her limited abilities. I vote for her to continue on Little Oaf exclusively and GC to find another writer for the weekday strip who can cleave more closely to the spirit of Hamlin and not Hanna/Barbera. https://www.gocomics.com/alley-oop/2021/02/07

  I guess Little Oaf has advanced enough to be able to read since it was unlikely that Moo had much written literature and even if it had, it's likely that it wouldn't be in English. And he's gotten so hip that he knows that a phone book from 1999(what does that year designation mean to Little Oaf?) would be considered a classic?  Just more silly nonsense, although I'm beginning think that between this and the weekday idiocy, the Little Oaf stuff is less oppressive and stultifying to read.   Oh boy! So somehow Little Oaf has soaked up all kinds of modern day programs and culture, with a Star Wars reference, a Billy Joel reference and a Mission Impossible-like reference. Having said that, I am afraid that I have to say that this is actually better than the week day nonsense. In light of that, I suggest they just drop the weekday stuff and just offer the once a week Little Oaf.   About all I can say about this is at least Little Oaf has a job so he can start paying Penelope's parents for the food he eats. 🙄 He's such a low intelligence nitwit that he can't even figure out that the dinosaurs are fake, as is likely the grass and of course the lake which would be basically a painting. And how did he get into that diorama anyway? The entrance to those is usually in the closed area behind the exhibit. So much wrong with this, but that's par for the course.   More nonsense. Getting lamer by the week. So Little Oaf gets an idea for an invention after he wore mittens while skiing. I guess if you figure that he's from the caveman days and only wears furry shorts, no shirt or shoes, that this actually is  a clever invention for him. Of course since he doesn't wear shoes anyway, why would he need foot and ankle mittens anyway? Then there's the silliness about how he researched them, taking measurements, doing calculations, experimenting with fabrics, thread, textures and colours. Huh? This little twit must have been a fast learner in whatever classes he attended at Penelope's school. I suggest dumping this crap and just do a continuation of the week's "story" with Oaf, Foola and Doc.   Well, this one was one of the laziest ones yet. So, Little Oaf at least can wear modern clothes without itching and going crazy. But wait, where did he get all the heavy weather gear? Who bought it for him?  And of course he's never seen snow before. Just how cold it would be would freak him out. Then going downhill with eyes closed he expertly slaloms between the trees and even does an expert flip. Opening his eyes at the bottom, he wonders where Penelope is and figures she she went down without him. How would he know since he had his eyes closed all the way down and was visualizing that he was one with the mountain? He apparently thinks that it was all in his mind as he visualized it, and he is still at the top of the mountain. Apparently his cave kid survival instincts are gone and he doesn't even notice that he's at the bottom of the hill with the ski lift next to him, a completely different scene than when he closed his eyes.  Well, this Little Oaf is perhaps 1% better than any of the previous ones. Little Oaf is his usual ignorant self. When Penelope asks if he would rather have super strength or be able to fly, he tells her either choice would be cool, but with his limited intelligence, he says he's got to go alphabetize his rock collection, which is likely about the only thing he can do, but one wonders how he even knows what alphabetizing is and how he classifies them. He really hasn't figured out at this point that Penelope is like a genius inventor so blows her off. Then we see that she did indeed invent something that allows her and an elephant (where did that come from?) to fly. She even appears to be carrying the elephant.   Ok, so, it appears this girl has eyes for Little Oaf. We see he doesn't know common terminology, is still fascinated by common modern things, like drinking fountains, and claims to be a good dancer, although today, just about any kind of body movement counts as some kind of dance, like the imbecilic floss dance. Then his buddy asks how his date was and he's so dense that he apparently stands there for the next several hours(what happened to his next class or classes after lunch?) until way past dark until he catches on. Didn't the lunchroom staff ask him why he's still there hours later when they went home? And didn't Penelope wonder why he wasn't home right after school, since it's after dark now? Wouldn't they go home together, either walk or have a parent pick them up? Joey just throws a bunch of panel "gags" together and calls it a Sunday strip. Gaaahh!! I suspect that even in the hands of a more accomplished writer this woebegotten cave ...

Well, it now appears that at least the school administration has figured out that Little Oaf has about the same education level as a one year old puppy, but instead of kicking him back down to Kindergarten level, they assigned him to carry the Math Club's box of calculators. He even has a title, Calculator Boy.   So he is more like a mascot to the club. The school likely has to offer education to all young kids so they had to figure out some way to accommodate his uneducated ass.  Still not sure why they let him come to school and events half naked with likely very smelly fur shorts. One can assume that that is the only pair he has. You would think the school would contact Penelope's parents about him, since he likely shows up with her every day.   Well, I must be getting punchy as this Little Oaf caused a slight smile as the Mom apparently has been sandbagging it and is on to Penelope's little scam with the gadgets, and has bought her own anti-convince-o-ray, a Gadget Reverser Pro. The Felix the Cat wall clock kitsch is a nice touch.  On a scale of 1-1000, all the previous Little Oafs have been -5's or lower, this one is likely a 1. It's not likely, but maybe, just maybe, Lemon may be catching on. Perhaps even suggested this to the hapless hack writer Joey.  It does appear that Little Oaf has somehow gone from being a paper mache creation of Penelope's into being accepted into the family openly. Of course, this is  a comic strip. 🙄

So Little Oaf goes to the mall and is bored? Figures... Then he is so dumb he sees a cardboard caveman standup and apparently thinks it is a real person! Just how dumb is this little idiot anyway. And if he is that dumb, just how is he faking his way in school? Plus, he's still walking around half naked with just those furry shorts on and no shirt. Is there no dress code at the mall or even school? Such goofy nonsense. If the little knucklehead wants some rocks or dinosaur stuff, why not have Penelope send him back to Moo to bring some back? And if he was indeed going to try to buy that kind of stuff, what was he going to use for money and how would he even know what it was worth vis-a-vis the stuff he was trying to buy. Adding to that, where would he get the money in the first place? Is he getting some kind of allowance from Penelope's parents?
