On today's Alley Oop - 31 October 2020

OK, so the trip to the Civil War was actually planned to have Hamberden get killed. Pretty devious use of the time travel cube. And now that Doc has done the hitman job, he's immediately recruited to do another one. Slippery slope indeed. In the hands of a skilled adventure author, this could lead to an interesting tale. Unfortunately Glynn neglected to find one and settled for a two bit hack to attempt to come up with something, anything, that resembles an interesting tale. Oh well, ya get what ya pay for. 🤢

On today's Alley Oop - 30 October 2020

Just keeps getting dumber and dumber. So Doc takes Hamberden right into a battle in the Civil War and says he will be back in a few days. Dimwit Hamberden says make that 2 months! So, even assuming the idiot has some cash on him, no one back then would have any idea what modern cash looks like and would assume it's counterfeit or worse. Plus with his 21st Century clothes, they would assume he's some strange weirdo from some other place, or at least a spy. He could easily end up in Andersonville Prison which would amount to a death sentence. So, what does he eat, etc? Rations were likely pretty scarce and would be nothing like he was used to, if they even gave him any. He's likely to get shot and wounded or even killed (we can only hope). Such silliness. 😒

On today's Alley Oop - 29 October 2020

Well, let's see how this goes. Really don't expect much. Hamberden at least has the presence of mind to comment that it doesn't seem historically accurate (DUH!). I assume he's talking about them from the future going back to the Civil War era, with what will be sure to have them still dressed in 21st Century clothing, (except for Doc in his ready to wear Revolutionary War getup, perhaps he doesn't have a Civil War costume, even though it's close to Halloween) as when they went back to Hamilton's era and Oop did his off the wall stupid "ALLEY OOP!" yell as he swung from a tree or some such (too lazy to go back and look up that idiotic episode, including that dimwit Mentis, good riddance to him). One disclaimer, I realize that was the Bender era so all bets are off with this clown team that passes for writer and illustrator now.

On today's Alley Oop - 28 October 2020

Well, another day of complete nonsense. Not sure where Doc's going with this, but, at this point, I really don't care. Just let this dumbass arc end and let's move on to something less silly. Where are those idiotic time cops when we need them? Or even the turtles or whatever the hell they were. Isn't Oop supposed to be back on trial in one of the other dimensions or whatever they were? Maybe if Joey would storyboard this crap instead of just pulling this nonsense out of her ass every day perhaps it would make some sort of sense. But at this point, I doubt it. 🤢 Thanks John. (wish there was an emoticon for flipping the bird). Can you at least take that loser you chose with you to exile? Please?

On today's Alley Oop - 27 October 2020

Oh, for Pete's sake, just when you think it couldn't get any dumber, Joey doubles down with this idiotic nonsense. The guy is worth billions and dimwit Doc offers a 50% off coupon at a store? Give me an effin' break already. All the time travel has made Doc a halfwit, just like Oaf. 🤢😒 Of course, halfwittedness is   Joey's natural state so she writes what she knows. What a talent. With any luck, now that Glynn has gotten the boot, maybe there will be some sort of change to right this sinking ship. For those who may have missed it, here's the good news link:  http://www.dailycartoonist.com/index.php/2020/10/26/john-glynn-and-andrews-mcmeel-part-ways/

On today's Alley Oop - 26 October 2020

So, apparently Doc is now angry at Mr. Hamberdin since he called Doc's chip flavor a terrible mistake. So if Doc is hopped up enough with that killer combo Stenk gave him, there's a tiny chance that we may see some manner of "action" here in the next week or two.  Not likely though. 😢

On today's Little Oop - 25 October 2020

Well, at least they are getting a bit real here with someone finally asking Little Poop where he's from instead of just accepting a half naked little weirdo attending school with somehow not enrolling and none of the administration or teachers asking who he is and who his parents are. One has to wonder just how he does in the classroom as he actually would appear to have the knowledge level of a preschooler. This exchange today is an example. Such BS..🤢

There are now 2,523 strips in the archive, spread over 13 years from Hamlin’s 40-year tenure on the strip. That pushes the Archive to 62.01% of the strips produced during those 13 years.

On today's Alley Oop - 24 October 2020

Well, that's quite a favor, being asked to be a hitman. And when Doc says he's too cowardly, Ms Stenk offers to hop him up, like the fabled Assassins, who supposedly used hashish to get pumped up (seems like meth or coke would be a more likely substance so perhaps that's some of the mystery ingredients). She mentions secret ingredients too secret to not be known by the FDA. Perhaps something from the Russian GRU or FSB? 🤷‍♂️

I can't blame Wootie for not wanting to write anything about today's strip (https://www.gocomics.com/alley-oop/2020/10/23). It is just plain stupid. Joey failed to establish any reason for Wonmug to suggest a new chip flavor or why he would want to do it. Then the flavor is so preposterously dumb that it isn't even funny. And for this reason,Wonmug is forever in Stenk's debt. Really poor storytelling matched by really bad art.

On today's Alley Oop - 22 October 2020

Ok, so now we get Leslie Stenk, whoever that is. Apparently some weirdo from somewhere Doc owes a favor to. She sounds like loads of fun.🤔

On today's Alley Oop - 21 October 2020

Not much to say about today's "gags", 3 of them. Just the usual silliness, going nowhere. This is apparently the best Joey can do. Time for John Glynn to admit he screwed up and search for another team, before it's too late. Since they killed the comment section and I doubt he reads this blog, he probably thinks he did a great thing. Thanks for nothing, John. 🤢

Interdimensional Soul Re-Animator? Experiment? Click!!  So they barely got back to where ever they came from and now they're off on some off the wall Joey tale? Non stop action (which you wish would stop). Let's see how over the top silly this arc is.

On today's Alley Oop - 19 October 2020

Yawn....So I guess all this bouncing around time was too much for Ol' Wonmug (and us readers). Time for a break. Then we find out that Ooola took a 4 hour roller coaster ride as the daily gag. SMDH   🤷‍♂️

On today's Little Oop - 18 October 2020

In an interview before the reboot of the"Alley Oop" strip, the creative team talked about the new direction of the Sunday strip. Joey, acknowledging that the young Oop idea was suggested by John, said, " Little Oop  is going to be very different from  Alley Oop , thematically and tonally. Lemon is doing it in a totally separate art style, and the jokes are built and paced differently. Little Oop is in middle school and is dealing with typical pre-teen stuff like crushes, homework, and not getting eaten by dinosaurs. There likely won’t be any time travel , unless you count the slow and unceasing march of time that bears down on each and every one of us, bringing us closer to our life’s end with every passing second." So what the heck happened? No Moo, no dinosaurs, no interest. Now the strip has become a 21st Century, run-of-the-mill kid strip with mildly amusing gags. Makes the Benders' Sunday recaps look like a breath of fresh air. In today's strip ( http

There are now 2,521 strips in the archive, spread over 13 years from Hamlin’s 40-year tenure on the strip. That pushes the Archive to 61.96% of the strips produced during those 13 years. Maybe they will be up to 62% by the end of the year.

On today's Alley Oop - 17 October 2020

So, the Oracle gets paid in catnip? That grows wild? Such a deal. 😒  And we find that NuOop or NuOaf also gets affected by it. It just keeps getting dumber and stupider daily. Fortunately the Good Stuff  (a certain percentage of it anyway) by Hamlin and Graue is still available at GC. Too bad they are dragging their feet in putting a lot of the good stuff online. Most likely that is so the uninitiated won't be tempted to check that out and only stay with this new dross as their conception of Alley Oop. Just very sad....😢

If I was beginning to think that I am starting to tune into Joey's thought process, she sure threw me a curveball today. I guess they can change the future unless they can't change the future. That's about all I can get out of the the nonsense spewed by the Oracle. Look, Joey, it's either you can change the future or you can't. It just can't be both and more likely it is the latter because events are interrelated so that if you change one teeny, tiny event, it will change an untold number of other future events. The Three Stooges have destroyed Junior's device so that a 1,200 year cultural void has been destroyed. Even if you wrongly define culture as just "art", think of how many books, movies, videos, songs, etc. would be created in that timeline that otherwise wouldn't have been. And think of the different ways of presenting that output - ways that we cannot even imagine - would be created during this epoch. It just would be impossible to m

On today's Alley Oop - 15 October 2020

This is what we used to call at work MOTSOS, which is "More Of The Same Old Shit". It certainly applies here. The daily "jokes" are more and more painful. Just silliness...

Back to the 33rd century and, magically, everything has changed in today's epic episode (https://www.gocomics.com/alley-oop/2020/10/14). No explanation as to why the restoration of all human  "culture" would make the amusement parks more modern and much better looking. but this writer doesn't bother to explain how anything is supposed to work. And Joey's explanation of culture severely wanting? The way people recreate is part of culture. Don't we consider baseball and football part of the American psyche. And if amusement parks are part of the world, or at least American, culture, why were there amusement parks on their first visit? Wouldn't they have disappeared like all other cultural aspects of life? Phil seems about as confused as I am because this whole story hasn't made any sense.

On today's Alley Oop - 13 October 2020

Well, that's a whole lot of nothing. More nonstop action? Who knew time travel could be so boring and listless?

On today's Litte Oop - 11 October 2020

There isn't much to say about today's Little Stupe strip (https://www.gocomics.com/alley-oop/2020/10/11)because there just isn't anything there. Since he hasn't been home for eight months, Alley is homesick and misses all of the things that a typical 12 year-old thinks about - you know, growing up, finding a job, getting married and having kids. Never mind that the only "jobs" in Moo are hunter, soldier and maybe king and shaman. But that just tees up the big yuk, that the thing he misses is the pie eating contest. Pies. In Moo. How the heck do you make pies without wheat, the stuff used to make crust? Another mental lapse by the yarnspinner extraordinaire.

On today's Alley Oop - 10 October 2020

OK, so now there's some action? Oaf strongarms Einstein then Doc or whoever ZANG!s them to somewhere. I guess we'll find "something" out after the dumbass Little Oop episode tomorrow. 😫

On today's Alley Oop - 9 October 2020

Well, today's Oaf story was mildly funny, to me at least. The last panel however blew out any momentum that may have been started in the first three. Oh well, ya gotta take what ya can get, like looking for a priceless diamond under a pile of horse manure, then finding out it's a chunk of glass. 🤮

On today's Alley Oop - 8 October 2020

Well, at least we get to see Ooola acting like she used to up until this new crew took over. Smashing the machine with her bare hands, just like Oaf. In that respect at least there is a slight  nod to the past. A slight  nod, not likely to continue however.   🤔

On today's Alley Oop - 7 October 2020

Well, looks like even a blind squirrel finds a nut sometimes. Oaf comes through in his mind addled way and saves art and culture. And he only used his fist, since Joey took away his trusty ax as it was too brutal for a 21st century comic. That might give modern tykes bad ideas. I'm surprised she didn't have him try to talk the culture destroyer machine out of destroying culture and instead working to give every person in the world a free pint of Ben and Jerry's Chunky Monkey.  Hey, it's just as dumb of an idea as destroying all culture, right? 🤷‍♂️

On today's Alley Oop - 6 October 2020

Well, just when you think the strip can't get any more idiotic, Joey pulls out all the stops and takes it to a new low. I suspect a kindergartener could write something more interesting than this bilge. None of this nonsense makes even one iota of sense. The proverbial "roomful of monkeys playing on typewriters" could have written a more entertaining comic than this trash. She desperately needs an editor, who could delete her whole storyline and tell her to go back and try again, or else take a hike. (We can only hope something like that happens....and soon). I tell ya, I lose 3 or 4 IQ points each time I read this crap. If I start talking baby talk, you'll know why. 🤦‍♂️😠😱

On today's Alley Oop - 5 October 2020

More of the same nonsense today. Appearing to be a junior league soap opera. Really sad.

On Today's Little Oop - 4 October 2020

Well, at least today we have one of those fish out of water deals where Little Oop completely doesn't get   modern math and comes up with a different interpretation instead of acting like he's been in the 21st century for years. Except for that first time he walked outside, saw the modern world and freaked out, he seemed to accept things like riding in a car, etc. quickly and easily.

On Today' Alley Oop - 3 October 2020

Somebody has to do it and I guess today it has to be me. I've already cleaned out the cat's litter box so reviewing today's Alley Oop shouldn't be that bad. But shoot me if I have to do the Little Stupe tomorrow. I can see how Wootie gets tired of saying how dumb this strip is day after day but today's episode isn't even smart enough to be called dumb. So what do we have in today's strip (https://www.gocomics.com/alley-oop/2020/10/03)? Young Einstein showing off his new machine that destroys "all forms of art and culture (emphasis added)". And not only right now but in the past ! Quite a tall order there, Al. But, Geeze Louise, Joey. You shouldn't throw around words that you only have the vaguest idea of what they mean. " Culture is the characteristics and knowledge of a particular group of people, encompassing language, religion, cuisine, social habits, music and arts." In other words, if you destroyed all forms of culture, civiliza
