Today's Little Oop - 9 May 2021

I've generally avoided commenting on "Little Stoop" because it in no way connects to the long cannon of the strip. Reading today's strip, though, I can't help but wonder who the intended audience for the Sunday strip is. Talking dinosaurs who wear clothes might appeal to very little kids but it's doubtful that many kids, little or otherwise, read comics, especially one that isn't particularly funny. That leaves adults and it amazes me that an adult would find today's strip funny or entertaining. And yet, 27 people gave today's comic the coveted "heart" award. I guess the only good news is that the supposed 23,370 other readers rolled their eyes, held their nose, and didn't vote. Today's yuck fest: https://www.gocomics.com/alley-oop/2021/05/09

On today's Little Oaf - 14 March 2021

So, finally Little Oaf comes out and admits he hasn't a clue on how to even begin to solve the problems. The strip pretty much is coming out and saying he's like a "fish out of water" (which we obviously knew). It's strange that the teacher at least hadn't noticed he's different. Or sent him back to Kindergarten for basic education. Oh well, it's just a comic strip. 🤓 https://www.gocomics.com/alley-oop/2021/03/14

On today's Little Oop - 8 November 2020

Umm, so Pac-Man looks realistic? And Little Poop gets freaked out from a more realistic opening screen? Seriously? Actually, I vote (as I and others have before) to just drop this dumbass Little Poop Sunday nonsense and do a long form Sunday episode of the (execrable) daily story. Maybe move the "story" along a little quicker instead of wasting time with this piffle. Maybe get to the star crashing sequence where Ava and all the rest get crushed? Or Ava transfers them all just in the nick of time to Hamilton's time where they meet up with Mentis and Oaf can do his idiotic "ALLEY OOP!" yell while he swings on a conveniently placed vine? Or.....?

On today's Little Oop - 1 November 2020

More dumbness today, as is usual for the Sunday strip. From the dialogue, it appears that the movie they were watching was one made from the daily Oaf nonsense. The reference to a pocket size time machine is a clue, plus a plot that didn't make them think at all. Time to dump this Little Poop crap and make the Sunday's just an extended daily strip that advances that "plot", such that it is. 🤦‍♂️

On today's Little Oop - 25 October 2020

Well, at least they are getting a bit real here with someone finally asking Little Poop where he's from instead of just accepting a half naked little weirdo attending school with somehow not enrolling and none of the administration or teachers asking who he is and who his parents are. One has to wonder just how he does in the classroom as he actually would appear to have the knowledge level of a preschooler. This exchange today is an example. Such BS..🤢

In an interview before the reboot of the"Alley Oop" strip, the creative team talked about the new direction of the Sunday strip. Joey, acknowledging that the young Oop idea was suggested by John, said, " Little Oop  is going to be very different from  Alley Oop , thematically and tonally. Lemon is doing it in a totally separate art style, and the jokes are built and paced differently. Little Oop is in middle school and is dealing with typical pre-teen stuff like crushes, homework, and not getting eaten by dinosaurs. There likely won’t be any time travel , unless you count the slow and unceasing march of time that bears down on each and every one of us, bringing us closer to our life’s end with every passing second." So what the heck happened? No Moo, no dinosaurs, no interest. Now the strip has become a 21st Century, run-of-the-mill kid strip with mildly amusing gags. Makes the Benders' Sunday recaps look like a breath of fresh air. In today's strip ( http...

There isn't much to say about today's Little Stupe strip (https://www.gocomics.com/alley-oop/2020/10/11)because there just isn't anything there. Since he hasn't been home for eight months, Alley is homesick and misses all of the things that a typical 12 year-old thinks about - you know, growing up, finding a job, getting married and having kids. Never mind that the only "jobs" in Moo are hunter, soldier and maybe king and shaman. But that just tees up the big yuk, that the thing he misses is the pie eating contest. Pies. In Moo. How the heck do you make pies without wheat, the stuff used to make crust? Another mental lapse by the yarnspinner extraordinaire.

On Today's Little Oop - 4 October 2020

Well, at least today we have one of those fish out of water deals where Little Oop completely doesn't get   modern math and comes up with a different interpretation instead of acting like he's been in the 21st century for years. Except for that first time he walked outside, saw the modern world and freaked out, he seemed to accept things like riding in a car, etc. quickly and easily.

On today's Little Oop - 27 September 2020

Well, it appears Little Oop has the full run of the house now. Fits right in. No idea however where he got and why he thinks an old shoe, a snail, a fish and what looks like a sponge all blended up in a blender (he really picked up using modern kitchen items quickly) would cook into something edible. I even noticed a fly above the blender in panel 4. Also, Penelope seems to be wearing a shirt with the Playboy Bunny on it, Seems a bit young to be sporting that but whatever. Just another day of nonsense, as we have come to grudgingly accept as par for the course. Very sad indeed. This lame crap makes the Bender's Sunday recaps look like fine art comparatively.

Penelope's mom has not only accepted Little Oop but she has bought him a bicycle. Not a helmet but you can't expect everything from his new mom. Come to think of it, she hasn't even thought to buy him some pants or some shoes. Could be a cold winter coming on.

GO Comics has a lot of kid-centric comic strips. Always popular, readers can daily view the antics of "One Big Happy", "Heart", "Big Nate", "Grand Avenue" or revel in the classic reruns of "Peanuts", "Cul de Sac", and"Calvin and Hobbes." Syndicate boss John Glynn thought we needed yet another kid's strip and the creative Lemsay team delivered "Little Alley Oop" with the antics of a really, tiny middle schooler, Alley Oop, growing up during the Bone Age of Moo. But the creative juices dried up quickly and Joey Sayers, never comfortable with Moovian stories of any kind, decided to shift gears by having the young Mr. Oop magically transported to the 21st Century. Initially looking like it might become a fish-out-of-water story line, it quickly devolved into a typical, middle schooler (still a really tiny one). Yeah, he wears bear shorts and likes to sleep on rocks but nobody in the modern world seems too c...

On today's Little Oop - 6 September 2020

Ok, so now they are going to try to hide a stray cat from her mom? Just because her brother said he would have to stay in his room? And little Oop is beaming when he hears the news? There's some very strange stuff going on in that house.

On today's Litte Oop - 30 August 2020

So, as was pointed out a week or 2 ago, what we have now is essentially Little Oop in today's world, having seemingly been accepted without question as to where he was from and how he was able to audit classes with no one saying anything. Now he has a cat which I imagine he will adopt (or the other way around 😊) and I guess they play it off as Penelope's cat. So he continues to walk around in furry shorts and no one says a thing about his attire? I imagine that (in schools at least) they have a dress code. So what is the significance of this time travel tale? Certainly no Stranger In A Strange Land. He seems to have acclimated pretty well. Meanwhile, back in Moo, the frantic search for Little Oop has begun. They fear the worst (we hope for the worst). 🤣

On Today's Little Oop - 23 August 2020

"Little Oop", the comic strip idea that nobody asked for, began early last year with the premise of young Alley Oop growing up in prehistoric Moo. Stick him in middle school, give him a baby sister (Sally - har!), and two clueless parents in a Moo that more resembled Fred Flinstones' Bedrock  than V.T. Hamlin's Moo and the jokes would just naturally flow. Except they didn't and Joey, never comfortable with Moovian environs and out of ideas, decided to shift Little Oop to the 21st Century and give him a super-smart whiz kid, Penelope, as his sidekick. So now the humor riffs off the kid-who-doesn't-fit-in, the caveman trapped in a world he never made. But what's the point? Today's strip has him somehow scoring the winning goal with the ball ricocheting off his noggin into the goal. But couldn't this gag have happened in any kids' strip? Nothing today says Alley Oop is from the prehistoric past. In fact, for the first time in this seven-month are,...

On today's Little Oop - 16 August 2020

I suppose it could get interesting if these two girls fight over Little Oop. So at some point shouldn't Little Oop be getting back to his parents? Of course with this time travel, I suppose he could finish high school here, get hitched and start a family, then get sent back to his parent's time, emerging mere seconds from the time he was whisked to the 21st century and they would not even notice he was gone. 🤔

On today's Little Oop - 9 August 2020

More silly nonsense. As if Oop's parents hadn't noticed him gone and then to have his voice come out of nowhere would likely freak them out. And like they know what germs are. Little Oop must have learned about germs when he was auditing classes. 🙄

On today's Little Oop - 26 July 2020

Another low octane Sunday strip. It would seem that Little Oop, being a cavekid, would be reasonably strong, likely more so than a modern bully. So, since it would be 2 against 1, it would seem like the bully would be the one running. More silly nonsense. 😒

On today's LIttle Oop - 19 July 2020

Little Oop getting all philosophical on us. 🙂 Appears to be way more intuitive than the adult Oaf.

On today's Little Oop - 12 July 2020

Well, at least this is starting to show tiny bits of acknowledging that Little Oop is sitting in the classroom like it's an everyday occurrence, but he still blows it by talking about all the dinosaurs. This whole Little Oop is a massive waste of time. Just putzing around trying to make something interesting and failing miserably.

On today's Little Oop - 5 July 2020

Nothing new here, just more muddling around. One wonders how Little Oop knows about a landscaper however? Also, it appears that the device Penelope is working on still has a few bugs.
