On today's Alley Oop - 13 April 2020 - I'll not be cagey about this

Okay, folks. I'll not be too cagey about today's Oop and tell you that I think that it has set a new abysmal low of absurd asininity. The cringe factor is so high today that I'm bearly able to type this on the keyboard. Please gimme a moment until I finish facepalming with my bear hands.

Okay, thank you for bearing with me. And now, for the brickbats.

So, like I guessed a possibility the other day, this was indeed a parent trap which was meant literally. But what's incredibly irrefutably infuriatingly ingloriously insanely inane here is that what on god's green earth did Ooola being a lookalike had to do with this idiotic parent trap?

Remember what the princess told on April 9th strip? If you don't please go to that day's and see for yourself. Lemme quote that for you. The princess says, " I feel like we should take advantage that we look alike. Hmmmm.", and she continues by saying, "I've got it! We should do a parent trap situation". Although that day ended with a ludicrous movie name gag, we know today that the princess meant it literally, in which case, anyone with an iota of an intelligence would ask these following questions :

  • If trapping her parents in a cage was the princess's idea, what did Ooola being a doppelgänger had got to do with it? Couldn't just anyone else have served the purpose to pull the rope and let a big wooden cage ka-thunked on her parents? Why'd you need a lookalike to do that?
  • And they just stand on X marks the spot and wait like a couple of morons, without once realizing that such a big cage hangs overhead? They're standing in such an open place but didn't see that huge thing above? Oh pleeease!
  • And that big cage just conveniently falls exactly around them? What if it fell on them and they got badly injured, or worse, killed? And this is supposed to be funny?
  • And it looks like a wooden cage which her parents could easily lift it up from below and push it sideways and manage to escape. So, why aren't they at least trying that? Is the cage now magically sealed to the ground?
  • And the princess's parents are the king and queen, aren't they? Won't the royal guards always be close by around them, and always within earshot? So, why aren't they summoning the royal guards now?
  • Plus why is Ooola being so subservient to this royalty? Remember Hamlin's Ooola who beat the snot outta Helen of Troy and Cleopatra?
  • And why does princess's dad have Popeye arms and legs? Is he from prehistoric Moo?

Now look, I don't mind silly parodies, but this is just too meaningless and too preposterous to be funny or entertaining. Especially when the established genre is so drastically retconned and turned into something else entirely, it needs some quality to survive on its own. This abysmal absurdity just doesn't work.
