The a-MOO-sing world of Alley Oop

Alley Oop is a syndicated comic strip created December 5, 1932, by American cartoonist V. T. Hamlin, who wrote and drew the strip through four decades for Newspaper Enterprise Association. Hamlin introduced a cast of characters, and his story lines entertained with a combination of adventure, fantasy, and humor.

On April 9, 1939, Alley Oop was accidentally time-transported from the prehistoric Moo to the 20th century, when Dr. Wonmug was testing his time machine. Until then, the comic featured Alley Oop's adventures in the prehistoric Moo. That's almost where Alley's time travelling adventures began. After an adventure in the contemporary modern age (the 1930's when the strip was being published in the U.S.A.), Alley soon began his time travelling adventures by volunteering to help the good Dr. Wonmug with his further research with his time machine.

Above cover of a comic depicts Alley Oop's adventures in ancient Egyp, with queen Cleopatra.

I believe WordPress is the better option as of now.

Ugh, you have to do a captcha just to comment? I'm not really sure I'm not a robot, is that going to be an issue? ha

    1. You don't have to don't have to do a captcha if you're logged in through your Google account. The captcha is to reduce spam and spam bots. Believe me, there are a lot of them around. Logginy in also helps us determine its really you and not an impostor!

Like, how do you know this is really me? I haven't logged in here for this reply. ;O)

I'm not going to make a second Google account (since I don't want to use my real one) just to comment here. And I don't like Wordpress's lack of formatting abilities (bold, italics, etc.) either and the thread length limitations there. Good luck with your project.

    3. Let's see where we head with this, friend. It is too early to say anything, as veteran Oop fans haven't come on board yet. Without them, there is no fan blog, as I made it for them to express themselves and for classic fans to relive the magic of Alley Oop.

  3. On blogger, it has to be a Google account, as when you try to login to Blogger it takes you to the Google account login. If you don't want to associate your usual one, you can get a new one. For Wordpress, you can use any email address to sign up.

  4. As you can see, I've made the text size bigger for the comments.

I'd like to know the following from you guys :

Would you like Disqus commenting platform here on Blogger site? (it is not possible to be installed on WordPress free version, but it can be installed for Blogger).

Although Disqus provides a great commentary platform, the cons of it is that due to a technical issue, comments made on Disqus never sync with Blogger. That is, all comments stay only on Disqus for each post. So, in case we install Disqus and in case in future we decide to stop using Disqus, then we may loose all the comments made on Disqus, in case the manual importing of Disqus comments to Blogger doesn't work. And even if comments were able to load back manually on Blogger, then they would be errenous, and without threaded feature, would be an utter mess.

When installed on Blogger, Disqus works well, just like it does on any other site, but only in the event of if Disqus ever shuts down its services in future, or stops its services, or we decide to move away and use some other platform in future, then the comments are as good as lost.

So think about this and let me know.

  5. Commenting on Monday's strip. Doc seems to be approaching senility. 8(

    1. Doc has been reduced to a senile silly old stupid schmuck. It's very sad how this great intelligent scientist character has fallen. And I sense there may be something wrong with this writer. She speaks of mocking other people and satire in her tweets, but she gets rid of comment boards on her comic because some people made jokes and satire. How ironic. What a hypocrite.
