How many times can you run the "dark side of the moon joke out there? I guess if you're Joey, it can't be calculated. If Joey keeps repeating herself, I guess I can too. The"dark" side of the moon is called so because we can't see that side of the moon from us. If you are standing on the moon, one side of the is not dark. I'll quote from a different source than what I used the other day: " The 'dark side' of the Moon refers to the hemisphere of the Moon that is facing away from the Earth. In reality it  is no darker than any other part of the Moon's surface  as sunlight does in fact fall equally on all sides of the Moon." If it takes too much effort for Joey to do basic research, maybe she could come to this blog and learn something. Of course, the whole purpose of even saying "dark side of the moon" is to set up the unfunny Pink Floyd joke. But c'mon, Joey. You've already set it up that as a grad student Wonmug w...

"Just reading the last 2 days is excruciating. Oaf focusing on rocks, missing the tiny extraterrestrials with their own space ship, and mentioning a rock that looks like Dolly Parton, as if Oaf even knows who Dolly Parton is. (I meant Saturday and Monday, the LIttle Oaf yesterday is one of the lamest ever. Looks like Penelope is even tiring of Little Oaf). Then today he pays no attention to what Doc is explaining, looking instead at another rock. Gee Whiz!!! Joey is clearly running out of ideas, of course she did that in the first couple days of this new mess." (from Wootie) I was going to comment on today's strip but Wootie beat me to it. The only thing that I can add is that no scientist refers to it as the dark side of the moon and it is only dark to us on Earth. From "Myths About the Moon": "... the side of the moon that is perpetually turned away from Earth is no more dark than the side we see. It is fully illuminated by the sun just as often (lunar da...

What's the purpose of Alley Oaf?

Image
This has to be the most ridiculously lame comic that exists these days. Once a great adventure comic by Hamlin, today it runs as a lame excuse for meaningless nonsense. What's the purpose of this sort of dumb sitcomic anyway? It's not entertainment. It's just crappy cringeworthy stuff.  As Unca $scrooge has already pointed out in his detailed reviews about what's all wrong with this ongoing so called moon landing story, this silly sitcomic is nothing more than a bunch of lame childish nonsense gags.  And as crappy as the gags are in this one, it's even literally toilet humour as you can see from the strip of 23rd July —  https://www.gocomics.com/alley-oop/2021/07/23 It's no wonder because the esteemed writer had once tweeted in her own words that writing is farting. There's no wonder Alley Poop stinks. What's sadder is that Alley Poop is worse than toilet humor.

This will cover the events from July 5 through July 13 since the three goofballs landed in Florida. as mentioned in my response to Wootie's post, it is really tough to say how dumb this strip is in a way that is different than what has already said before. But the past eight days that even Joseph Nebush would have trouble saying something good about the story line. Back in comics from the '40s and 50s, it was not uncommon to see stories where a character builds their own spacecraft and heads off on a journey to the moon and sometimes beyond. Heck, Hamlin had Oop and Boom blast off for the moon way back in 1948 with Boom's homemade rocket. But that kind of story just doesn't work in the 21st century because we know how complicated - and expensive - it is to for outer space travel. Way back in 2004, Richard Branson predicted he would reach outer space - and we're no talking the moon here - in three years. Even with his resources, it took 17 years.  If you were alive d...
